Armed with the 75mm gun, the Sherman was considered state of the art until it was placed up against the German "big cats" - The Panthers and Tigers. Woefully outgunned and under armoured the Sherman became known as the Ronson or Tommy Cooker on account of the speed at which it was liable to burn when hit. The LCM III is a lovely kit overdue for re-release by Airfix. Essential for creating Operation Overlord, Operation Husky or Operation Dragoon not to mention the hundreds of island invasions
