The Horsa was built by Airspeed and used by the British wherever and whenever they needed to drop Paras into the heat of the action. The Mk I was a production glider with the cable attachment at the upper point of the landing gear. The Mk II had a hinged nose to allow direct loading and unloading of equipment. The Horsa had a capacity for 2 crew and 25 troops. In total, 3,799 Horsas were built.
