M2 / M2A1 Half Track Gun Tractor

The M2 / M2A1 was developed by the White Motor Company from its M3 White Scout Car. Initially underpowered as the T7 prototype the M2 was enhanced by upgrading the engine. The US Army adopted the M2 in 1940 as a prime mover and reconnaissance vehicle. Between 1942 and 1943 the M2 was upgraded further with a better drive train, engine and stowage. The M2A1 had the improved M49 machine gun ring mount.
