Pz Kpfw V Panther Ausf A

The Panther was introduced into service in 1943 in response to the Russian T-34 exhibiting the same sloped armour design which increased the effective thickness of armour as well as improving shot deflection. The Panther was armed with the lethal high velocity KwK 42 L/70 75mm gun as well as two MG34. Entering service at Kursk (Operation Citadel) in 1943 its initial debut was less than glorious. However, following modifications the Panther saw extensive service on both East and West fronts.
