The heavy category of cars was reserved for those with an engine capacity of 3,000cc or over. The main producer of these types of vehicle was Horch-Auto Union. The eight cylinder V8 Auto Union/Horch 108 type engine was 3,823cc and gave out 81HP at 3,600rpm. This vehicle remained in service throughout WWII in all theatres with many different modifications including an Anti Aircraft variant.
