The M3 half track was the basic personnel carrier variant. It had seating for a rifle squad or section of 10 men as well as three in the cab. The M3 was slightly longer than the previous M2 and was fitted with rear access doors. The M3 was fitted with a pedestal mount for a 0.30 cal machine gun fitted to the floor than could be dismounted.
