Mk I 'Female' WWI Tank - Gaza Strip Modifications

The Mk I Tank was the world's first combat tank and developed by the British. The Mk I Male was armed with a two 6 Pounders carried in a sponson on each side of the tank and three 8mm Hotchkiss machine guns. The Mk I Female was armed with four 0.303 Vickers machine guns. The Mk I had a crew of 8 men. The Gaza Strip Modifications were the addition of roof brackets so that the sponsons could be lifted off the tank for separate transportation. These tanks served in North Africa against the Turks.
