47mm SA mle 1937 Anti Tank Gun

Designed to replace the 75mm mle 1897 field gun in an anti tank role, the French state owned APX workshop developed the Canon de 47mm Semi-Automatique mle 1937. It was very efficient against the German light tanks of the time although at the time of the Battle of France the numbers of these guns were still quite low. The gun was capable of 15 to 20 rounds per minute and had an effective range of 2000m with a muzzle velocity of 855 m/second. Captured guns were re-designated 4.7cm Pak 181(f).
