ZIS-5V Soviet Truck

The ZIS-5 was the double axle version of the triple axle Soviet ZIS-6 truck. Production started in 1933 and along with the GAZ-AA was the workhorse truck for the Soviet Red Army in WWII with over 100,000 available in 1941. By the end of 1941, shortages of materials lead to some simplification in the construction of the ZIS-5. The ZIS-5V had flat bended wings rather than rounded stamped ones. Cabs and footboards were constructed from wood, brakes were removed from the front wheels as were bumpers
