Self Propelled 40mm Bofors AA Gun on Chevrolet

The 40mm Bofors was an anti aircraft gun produced by the Swedish Bofors firm and was used by most Western Allies. The prototype was tested during 1931 and was capable of 130 rounds per minute with final developments bringing the Bofors 40mm L/60 into service in 1933. It fired a 900g high explosive 40 x 311R (rimmed) shell at 2,800 feet per second. To increase mobility, some Bofors were mounted on the back of medium trucks, such as the Chevrolet 30cwt allowing for greater mobility.
