The ZIS-42 was the built between 1940 and 1944 with a production run of 5,931 vehicles. It has the same cab as the ZIS-5 truck as well as the same engine in early versions. The ZIS-42 was not armoured and remained a cargo vehicle. While it performed well across country, the half track was underpowered.
