Type 89 I-Go Medium Tank

The Type 89 I-Go Medium tank was a Japanese design used between 1932 and 1942. The Type 89B was the world's first mass produced diesel engine tank. The main armament was a short barrel low velocity Type 90 57mm gun used mainly in an infantry support role to knock out pillboxes and fortifications. lacking both the armour and armament of comparable 1940s tanks the I-Go was regarded as largely obsolete by 1939.
