The 251 was used throughout the war from 1939 right through to 1945 and saw service on all fronts. The 251 was the subject of many many variants from command vehicles and infantry support vehicles to ambulances, mortar carriers and anti tank platforms. The Ausf A and Ausf B are recognisable by the more 'pointed' nose than the later Ausf C and Ausf D which had a single sloped panel nose and simplified sloping rear doors.
