The Leopard 1 design was influenced by the AMX-30 with armour kept relatively light to gain better mobility, the Leopard had a top speed of 40mph and weighed 40 tons. Its main armamaent was a British made 105mm rifled gun fitted with gyroscopic stablisers. There are also two 7.62mm machine guns, one mounted coaxially. Crewed by 4 men it is also fitted with automatic fire control. The 1A4 was the sixth Leopard variant with delivery in 1974 and featured new computerised fire control and sighting
