TACAM R-2 Self Propelled Gun

The TACAM R-2 was a Romanian self propelled gun armed with a 76.2mm ZIS-3 gun mounted on the Romanian R-2 chassis. (TACAM translates as Tun Anticar pe Afet Mobil or Self Propelled Anti Tank Gun) The TACAM R-2 had a three sided fighting compartment to protect the crew with 20 vehicles being built in 1944. They had been designed to take on the larger Scoviet tanks but after the first 20 were produced production was halted as the gun was inadequate against the newer Soviet IS-2 tanks.
