Developed in late 1930 by Krupp as a siege artillery piece to destroy the French Maginot Line, the fully assembled gun weighed 1,350 tons and could fire a 7 tonne shell up to 49km. "Dora" was the second 80cm K(E) produced and it was deployed 15km west of Stalingrad in 1942.
