Anti Aircraft Acoustic Sound Locator With Dyson Trailer

Prior to the introduction of Radar, acoustic location was used as a passive method of detecting incoming aircraft by picking up the sound or vibration of incomeing aircraft engines. Acoustic location was heavily developed by the British although publicity was given to acoustic location long after the British started to employ radar during WWII. Typically acoustic location only gave a few minutes warning of incoming aircraft but did have a range of 10 miles.
