The V-1 Flying Bomb (also known by the Allies as the Doodlebug or Buzzbomb) was the first of the German Vengeance Weapons and was an early cruise missile. As WWII progressed, increasing Allied air superiority and the loss of launch sites led to the development of mobile platforms such as the E tanks and railway cars for launching the V-1 and similar weapons.
