A superb example of an early war Panzer 38(t) prototype. In June 1942, utilising the Pz Kpfw 38(t) Ausf G chassis, two prototype Sd Kfz 138 Ausf H (Marder III) vehicles were proposed. The first was fitted with a 75mm Pak40/3 L/46 while the other was fitted with the 75mm StuK40 from the SturmgeschÃ¼tz III assault gun. The latter required a revised mounting and a support for the gun barrel. Following testing a decision was made to go with the Pak40 design and SturmgeschÃ¼tz 38(t) was rejected.
