10.5cm Leichtgeschütz 42 Recoilless Gun

Following the success of the 7.5cm Leichtgeschütz 40 in Crete in 1941, the Germans developed the larger calibre 10.5cm Leichtgeschütz 40 and 42 with the former being developed by Krupp and the latter by Rheinmetall. The LG42 shared the same shells as the 10.5cm leFH18. The weapon could be broken down into 4 parts for dropping with the Fallschirmjäger. The 10.5cm LG42 was used to equip independent artillery batteries and battalions which served in the Arctic and in Central Russia
