Sd Kfz 171 Panther Ausf F (DN7647)

First introduced in 1943 during Operation Citadel on the Eastern Front, the Panther was the German response to the superb Russian T-34 with sloping frontal armour and a more powerful gun. The Ausf F had a modified turret with lower silhouette at the front and included a suakopf ("pig's head") gun mantlet. The Steel Wheels fitted to the Ausf G were also fitted to the Ausf F. The Ausf F was still at the prototype stage by the end of the war so never saw service.
