The Renault NC-27 was developed with improved suspension to replace the Renault FT-17. It was exported to a number of countries for evaluation leading to an order for the vehicle from Japan. There were two Japanese versions, one armed with a 37mm Type 11 infantry gun (as depicted here) and another with a 6.5mm Type 3 machine gun. The Otsu-Gata saw service in Manchuria and China from 1931 onwards.
