Leopard 2A6M CAN Main Battle Tank
The Leopard 2 was developed by Germany in the early 1970s. It was armed with a 120mm Rheinmetall L/44 smoothbore gun which was later replaced with the L/55 and two 7.62mm MG3A1 machine guns.
The 2A6M CAN is a Canadian variant of the Leopard 2A6M and features black boxes mounted on the rear of the turret and stand off slat armour which increases protection against RPG rounds. The tanks were initially loaned to Canada by Germany to increase firepower and protection while serving in Afghanistan.
